The crisis in Syria has devastated the country’s infrastructure, including homes, schools and public facilities, such as hospitals and service centers, leaving people in a hard situation, having lost their basic necessities of life, particularly those facilities that provide them with the means of survival.

The Health Sector, which provides civilians with basic support for treatment and recovery, was so important that Al-Sham Humanitarian Foundation established medical warehouses in order to provide hospitals with medical materials with the aim of supporting the Health Sector in various areas.

The first group of the warehouses was built in April 2015, due to the scarcity of medical materials and the increase of demand for them as a result of the growing numbers of the injured and wounded. Much needed were stockpiles of medicines and medical consumables constantly depleted. This entailed the identification of a number of goals:

– Helping medical establishments inside Syria to continue to provide medicines and consumables to active hospitals

– Providing medicines and consumables to medical and emergency centers

This was done in order to improve the survival rate of the injured.

Strengthening the Health Sector inside Syria is a humanitarian responsibility that needs to be assumed by every member of society, especially during the hard times Syria is going through. Not only that, Syrian society will need many years to restore and revive capabilities even if the atrocities were to stop today.
