As has been the case over the past few years, the Holy Month of Ramadan comes back while many people inside Syria are deeply concerned about providing food for their families. Most of these people hardly find enough food to break their fast with or to eat their Sahour meal. This is because the land they live on is under siege or it is unsuitable for agriculture as a result of continuous bombardment. This resulted in a lack of food products on the market and soaring prices.

Because providing food for believers to break their fasting on embodies religious reward and demonstrates social solidarity, Al-Sham Humanitarian Foundation has launched a project to distribute Iftar and Sahour meals to needy families in Ramadan every year. These meals are distributed in most Syrian regions such as Aleppo, Idleb, Hama, and Lattakia Countries, Deraa, Damascus, Damascus Countryside and Homs, with the aim of achieving the following goals:

-Relieving the suffering of poor families during Ramadan

-Contributing to the enhancement of food security

-Following the Takaful (solidarity) Tradition in Ramadan

The management chooses the segments of families who deserve to benefit from the project in order to achieve the desired goals. Priority is given to the following categories:

-Poor families that do not have a monthly sufficient income to purchase food on a daily basis

-Displaced families that have been forced to move from one place to another more than once

-Families of widows and orphans

-Poor families in besieged areas. Also, families of martyrs, detainees, and families with special need can benefit from this project

This project, thanks to Almighty Allah, was able at the end of last year to provide Iftar and Sahour meals to some 765 thousand fasting people, who had full meals on their tables.
