Thousands of people died in the war in Syria, leaving behind families who have been displaced unable to afford a decent shelter and preserve their dignity.
Al-Sham Foundation stood up to these cases. In cooperation with Eid Foundation, it launched a “Shamuna Care House” as a charity housing for the wives of martyrs and their children and to provide them with simple financial aid.
In May 2015, the House was opened in the city of Rihaniyah in the Turkish state of Hatay to include the wives of Syrian martyrs and their children, who have no breadwinner and have fled to Turkey. They have found help and support after losing everything in Syria.
This project aims to achieve the following goals:
-Provide safe and decent housing for martyrs’ families
-Contribute to improving the living standards of beneficiaries
-Developing mothers’ educational, cultural and educational skills
-Provide psychosocial support sessions for mothers and children
Accession to this home is restricted by the following terms and conditions:
-The wife must be a widow and not less than 18 years of age
-Male children should not be more than 12 years old
-The family is characterized by good morals and calm
-The mother must be literate
Many activities were also undertaken to develop the skills of children and mothers at the same time, such as women’s sewing courses, Koranic workshops for children and vocational and handicraft courses for children.
The psychological aspect of these families was not overlooked. Counselors and psychiatrists are employed to provide psychological sessions in order to deal with any problems they might have.
