Because Zakat Al-Fitr signifies growth and purification, it was made a pillar of Islam and a path of solidarity particularly in vulnerable communities. The Syrian society has been suffering for several years from a war that has caused destruction and deprivation on a large scale.
Thus the idea behind Zakat Al-Fitr project which was established by A-Sham Humanitarian Foundation to cover all Syrian regions such as Aleppo, Daraa, Idleb, Damascus, Lattakia, Quneitra.
The project distributes a zakat in kind sucj as rice, wheat, burghul, and other basic items needed by the people in Ramadan each year, with special emphasis on impoverished families. The project aims to achieve the following objectives:
-Perform an Islamic rite, Zakat al-Fitr
-Provide much-needed assistance to targeted families
-Contribute to the enhancement of food security
-Contribute to introducing happiness and hope to the hearts of the targeted people
