Al-Sham Humanitarian Foundation participated in an international conference organized by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (the Raf Foundation) in Doha, Qatar, to launch the “Save a Life” initiative.
The conference addressed ways forward for implementing the global initiative launched by the Raf Foundation last year aimed at improving the health sector in Arab and Muslim countries. The first projects within the initiative have been implemented in Sudan. The participants discussed the mechanism for transferring the experience to Syria, Yemen and Palestine, and the benefits and challenges of establishing sustainable health services in conflict-affected areas.
The conference was attended by a number of international and Arab institutions including the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Doctors Without Borders and the Union of Syrian Medical Relief Organizations (UOSSM).
