After the disappearance of Abu Ali, the head of the family and its sole breadwinner, within the walls and basements of Syrian prisons, Umm Ali began her search for a source of income for her family of eight.

As a result of Umm Ali’s relentless efforts and desire to improve her situation, her story reached the ears of humanitarian workers in the town. They in turn conveyed the details of the family’s suffering to the Sham Humanitarian Foundation, which did not hesitate to help.

Following consultations by the Foundation’s team with the family, it became clear that establishing a home cheese and diary factory was the most appropriate solution for ensuring a source of livelihood for the family.

In this context, the Foundation quickly purchased the equipment for a mini-dairy factory, in addition to a solar energy panel to provide the project with the necessary energy given the permanent power outages. The Foundation also provided Umm Ali with a refrigerator to store produce in the summer.

Through visits by the Foundation’s team to the family and supervision of its work on the project, it was evident that the project was an important achievement and turning point in the family’s life. It saved the family members from unemployment and became a productive and contributing factor in the development of the community.

On the other hand, the dairy factory contributed to generating a monthly income of more than $150 for the family. As production and sales increased, both the factory and the project had to be expanded.

It is worth noting that frequent field visits by the Sham Humanitarian Foundation team contributed to the success of the project thanks to the guidance provided by experts.
