“We had everything, money, houses, lands and suddenly we found ourselves displaced in our own country and deprived of what we owned.” With these words Fadi started his speech about his situation after getting displaced from his city and moving to live in eastern countryside of Aleppo, Syria following the loss of his belongings and leaving with nothing.
Fadi Abo Adel is a displaced young man from Palmyra city, located in Homs eastern countryside of Syria. The displacement and troubles he faced didn’t prevent him from standing again on his two feet and searching for work to help his family and saving money for marriage. He is doing all that despite facing the harshest challenges away from his home and his city, displaced in his own country and not knowing what his fate holds. Despite all the hardship, he didn’t lose hope and he kept searching for work every day.
Fadi Abo Adel says, “After the bombing campaign on Palmyra city, we had, my family and I, to leave our home and work and move to Al Raqqa city where the situation was to some extend better. And when the situation got worse there, we had to move to Aleppo eastern countryside (Al-Bab city) where we lost our work and faced a lot of challenges. My siblings and I didn’t lose hope in searching for work to meet the needs of our family which consisted of 12 people.”
He added, “we had a small van so I decided to buy a water tank and work on it selling water in the city because the city had previously been destroyed by bombs and it didn’t have any water so people had to buy water. We used to work 24 hours a day despite all troubles and tiredness. However, our income wasn’t enough to satisfy our needs and I couldn’t get enough income”.

He also pointed, “I get acquainted with friends from Al-Bab city who talked to me about small funding. We formed a group and applied to get the loan and after approval and getting the loan I previously thought about establishing a project to work on along with my siblings, I bought a tricycle motorbike to sell ice and vegetables and we started working”.

Fadi ended his words by saying, “with Allah’s help, our work now is good and we have good income that meets the needs of my family and I was able to save money and I got married”.
